DON E. SMITH

Don Earl Smith of Hatfield, formerly of El Dorado, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018. Don was born July 14, 1958 in El Dorado and was the son of Aylmer and Rudelle Smith.He was a construction worker and worked as a pipefitter most of his working life.Preceeding him in death were his grandparents, his parents and a brother, Dennis Smith. Survivors include his sisters, LaJuan Smith Miller (Butch), Aylma Smith Williamson (Jim), his brothers, Tommy Smith (Vona) and Clifford Smith (Saundra) and numerous neices and nephews.Cremation services were entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home of Mena, Arkansas.A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 4 p.m. until service time at 6 p.m.Bill passed away suddenly Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, at his home.He was born July 13, 1937, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to the late Claude and Ethel Wilson Brooks.Bill was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War.He was a member of the Unity Church of the Cumberlands and was proud of more than 35 years of sobriety. He was a loving, devoted husband and friend to many. He will be greatly missed by his three fur babies, Earl, Flynn, and his newest rescue, Lexi.Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy Moon Brooks; son, Scott (Becky) Brooks of Orlando, Florida; daughter, Wanda Sherry (Jim) Gardiner of Fallon, Nevada; grandchildren, Tracy Brooks, Anita and Chris Gardiner, Clyde, Kim, and Sara Smith; great-grandson, Ty Brooks; and nieces, Belita Wood and Dawn Brooks.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Smith; brothers, Joseph, Edward, Donald, and Allen Brooks; sisters, Irene Hubert, Claudine Gilborne, and Ione Livingston; and step-daughter, Amanda Moon.Memorial contributions may be made to the Unity Church of the Cumberlands, 823 E. 10th St., Cookeville, TN 38501, or the Cookeville/Putnam County Animal Shelter, 2650 Gainesboro Grade, Cookeville, TN 38501.Dyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, 526-7158.
